OSTEOPATHIC TRIBUTE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Osteopathic Founders Foundation’s Tribute Scholarship program is open to those students who are invited to apply based upon academic standing at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. These scholarships are presented annually by the Foundation.
The selection committee, composed of three members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and the current year’s Outstanding Physician honoree evaluate several criteria in awarding the Tribute Scholarships. In addition to a required ranking in the top 20% of the OSU-COM third year class, we consider the student’s educational history and extracurricular history, including community volunteer activities, college ambassadorship, and involvement in the osteopathic profession. Applicants are also asked to submit an essay, of up to 600 words, on a topic selected annually by the scholarship committee.
The recipient of the Outstanding Scholar Award, which is presented in recognition of the Foundation’s current Outstanding Physician honoree, receives a $10,000 scholarship to be used during his/her fourth year of study. Recipients of other Tribute Scholarships receive awards of up to $5,000. In June of each year, scholarship recipients are invited to attend a dinner with the Foundation’s Board of Directors to receive their awards.

Strolling Through The Match
There’s a lot to think about in preparing for residency. The Osteopathic Founders Foundation and Tulsa Osteopathic Medical Society are partnering to present “Strolling Through the Match,” a program designed to help medical students make appropriate decisions about their professional career and to learn more about the process of post-graduate training.
Some of the topics covered will include:
- Choosing a specialty
- Preparing your application
- Selecting a program
- Gearing up for “THE INTERVIEW”
- Evaluating your opportunities
The information is presented by physicians who have served as program directors and by senior residents who can offer their personal insights.
Strolling Through the Match is designed for students to attend during their second or third year of medical school. Please watch your email for invitations to arrive soon. This year's program will be held Tuesday, October 18 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Baxter's Interurban Grill, 717 South Houston. Please RSVP to Janice Bratzler, (918) 599-5962 or jbratz61@yahoo.com.
